Frequently Asked Questions
My dog is nervous what can you do to help?
What we do in order to help your dog settle is if allowed we will reward calm behavior with a treat and make it a fun time for them, if they need some extra time to settle then that's what we'll give them, to make sure they're comfortable.
My dog bites can you still groom him/her?
yes, we will work around what we can and do our best to calm them down and reassure them they are in no danger, If the dog is severely stressed we will do what we can and then call and let you know this is all we can do without having injury to our staff.
NOTE: If we think your dog will be better behaved with you there with them then this can be arranged.
Can I stay and watch you groom my dog?
The answer to this is unfortunately not, we use sharp tools (scissors, clippers etc) so your dog will not settle and we prefer to have no accidents, with you in the room your dog will constantly fidget and you will not get a great quality groom due to them fidgeting, this is the same as if you come earlier than when we text or call, the groom will take longer and your dog will not settle again knowing you have arrived.
Will my dog be put in a kennel while waiting?
Absolutely not, your pooch will be either playing with us, or having cuddles on the chair with us.
Will you shave my dog?
Not at all without a valid reason, If your dog is matted to the skin it is our job as a groomer to act upon the Animal Welfare Rights of 2006, when your pooch is matted they cannot regulate their temperature, this will make their skin sore and create hot spots, as well as create skin allergies and infections, the best thing to do is clip them short and start their coat again, this way you can continue to comb through your dogs coat without high maintenance. **See our matting policy**
Will you clip my double-coated dog?
We do not clip double-coated dogs, the reason behind this is because double-coated breeds do not need clipping to cool down, its quite the opposite, having a healthy brushed out double-coat allows your dog to have the ability to regulate their temperature naturally, we will only clip double-coated breeds if suggested by your vet or extreme matting has occured and will call and let you know beforehand.
My dog has fleas can I still have him groomed?
unfortunately we do not accept dogs with fleas you must have your dog cleared for fleas by the vet before having a groom with us, if we do find fleas on your dog before the grooming appointment starts we will send your dog home!
